Hiroshima Remembrance Day: Honoring the Past, Advocating for Peace

August 6th marks a solemn day in human history Hiroshima Remembrance Day. On this day in 1945, the world witnessed the devastating power of nuclear weapons when the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This event not only changed the course of World War II but also left an indelible mark on humanity's collective conscience, serving as a grim reminder of the catastrophic consequences of nuclear warfare. The Event That Shook the World At 8:15 AM on August 6, 1945, the atomic bomb, nicknamed "Little Boy," detonated over Hiroshima. The explosion and the subsequent firestorm obliterated much of the city, resulting in the immediate deaths of approximately 80,000 people. By the end of the year, the death toll had risen to around 140,000 due to injuries and radiation sickness.
